The objective is the same as classic casino blackjack: beat the dealer by getting a hand value closer to 21 without going over. Cards 2–10 are worth their face value, face cards (J, Q, K) are worth 10, and Aces count as 1 or 11 — whichever helps your hand most.
Basic strategy is the mathematically optimal set of decisions for every possible hand combination. It won't guarantee wins every hand, but over time it reduces the house edge to under 0.5% — the lowest of any casino game. Here are the key rules to memorise:
Always hit on 8 or less. Hit on hard 12–16 when the dealer shows 7 or higher. Hit on soft 17 (Ace + 6) always.
Stand on hard 17 or more. Stand on hard 12–16 when the dealer shows 2–6 — let the dealer bust. Stand on soft 18 vs dealer 2–8.
Double on 11 vs any dealer card except Ace. Double on 10 vs dealer 2–9. Double on 9 vs dealer 3–6. Always doubles your potential winnings.
Always split Aces and 8s. Never split 10s (you already have 20) or 5s (better to double). Split 9s vs dealer 2–6 and 8–9.
With only 3 minutes on the clock, play decisively. Avoid insurance — it's a losing bet long-term. Prioritise hands that can be resolved quickly to fit in more rounds.
Starting with $100, keep bets between $10–$25 early. Once you've built a cushion, increase stakes. Never bet more than a third of your balance on any single hand.
New to the game? Here are the key blackjack terms you'll encounter when you play:
Request an additional card from the dealer. You can hit as many times as you like until you stand or go bust (exceed 21).
Keep your current hand and end your turn. The dealer then plays out their hand.
Double your original bet in exchange for receiving exactly one more card. Only available on your first two cards. Best used when you hold 10 or 11.
When your first two cards are a matching pair, you can split them into two separate hands, each with its own bet equal to your original wager. In Blitz Blackjack this costs an extra bet from your balance.
When your hand total exceeds 21, you bust and automatically lose the hand, regardless of the dealer's cards.
A natural blackjack is an Ace paired with any 10-value card (10, J, Q, K) on your first two cards. In Blitz Blackjack, this pays 2.5× your original bet.
When you and the dealer finish with the same hand value, the round is a push (tie) and your original bet is returned.
Any hand containing an Ace counted as 11. For example, Ace + 6 = soft 17. Soft hands cannot bust on a single hit, making them safer to play aggressively.
A hand with no Ace, or where the Ace must count as 1 to avoid busting. Strategy decisions differ between hard and soft hands.
